Michael Carbone is the chief schools officer for Seton Education Partners.  In this role, Mike leads the schools team for Seton’s largest initiative, Brilla Public Charter Schools, where he works alongside the executive director to set and implement the vision of their dynamic whole-child model across the Bronx and New Jersey.  Prior to rejoining the Seton family in July, 2023, Mike served as the deputy chief of secondary schools for Uplift Education where he was responsible for all 26 middle schools and high schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex implementing their International-Baccalaureate-for-All model.  Previously, he served as the chief academic officer at Brilla Public Charter Schools from 2017-2021 where the Brilla Schools were ranked as a Top 5 School in the state serving similar populations.  Before his time at Seton, Mike served as a middle school and high school science teacher in traditional, public schools before entering leadership.  As a school leader in both traditional public schools and independent charter schools, Mike was recognized as a national finalist for the EL Education Irwin Silverberg Leadership Award in 2017.  Additionally, Mike has served as the host of the prestigious Science and Engineering Program for Teachers (SEPT) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, been a board member of the Connecticut ASCD, served as president of education fraternity Kappa Delta Pi at the University of Saint Joseph, been a guest lecturer at UCONN’s NEAG School of Education, and was an adjunct professor for University of Saint Joseph’s Graduate School of Education from 2012-2018.  Mike earned his bachelor’s of science degree in biology from the University of South Florida, his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Saint Joseph, and his certification in advanced educational leadership from Harvard University.  In his free time Mike enjoys golfing, reading, and traveling in Dallas, Texas, where he resides with his wife, Patti, and daughter Sophie.
