Give Living Hope to Catholic Schools

Give Living Hope to Catholic Schools

You probably know that Catholic education has been hit especially hard by the recent closures of U.S. schools. Thankfully, the schools in our Seton Blended Learning Network were already equipped for a speedy transition to learning from home, but with so many families and parishes struggling financially, the challenges are still significant.

Despite this reality, Catalina Saenz, the principal of Resurrection Catholic School in the underserved Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, isn’t giving up hope.

“If you walked into Resurrection today, you’d never know that this school is in trouble,” said Catalina, who grew up in the neighborhood. For over 65 years, Resurrection has stayed true to its mission of making an excellent Catholic education available to all. Unfortunately, Resurrection has had to cancel the vital in-person fundraisers that make this possible. As a result, Catalina has given up something, too… and it isn’t hope.

She’s deferred part of her own salary in order to pay her teachers and staff.

Living Hope tends to have a ripple effect, and Catalina’s servant leadership hasn’t gone unnoticed. A few Resurrection parents have even paid their school registration early just to help out, despite their own hardships.

Catalina is also working hard to secure additional support. She applied for the SBA and replaced the canceled fundraisers with virtual ones to ensure there is a school for her families to rely on now and next year. In the meantime, we want to give a boost of Living Hope to Catalina and the Resurrection community by providing a partial scholarship for the family most in need.

And we need your help.

Will you be one of 40 people to give $20 today to raise $800 for a partial scholarship that will enable a student to receive the consistent support and high-quality Catholic education that Resurrection provides so many children?

As Catalina’s sacrifice demonstrates, we can all make a difference through acts of generosity both great and small. Thank you for supporting a family in need by making this gift of Living Hope possible.
