Chief Schools Officer, Brilla Schools Network

Whenever you begin any good work you should first of all make a most pressing appeal to Christ our Lord to bring it to perfection.

- Saint Benedict

Michael C. Carbone serves as the Chief Schools Officer for Seton Education Partners, where he leads the network’s largest initiative—Brilla Public Charter Schools. In this role, Mike sets and sustains the vision for Brilla’s holistic, academically rigorous, and character-rich model, ensuring each campus is grounded in the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. Guided by a deep belief in the dignity of every child, Mike works alongside school and network leaders to advance academic excellence and virtuous formation, especially for historically underserved communities.

Mike previously served as the Deputy Chief of Secondary Schools at Uplift Education in Dallas/Fort Worth, overseeing 26 secondary campuses. Before that, he was the founding Chief Academic Officer at Brilla, where he helped establish the network as one of the top five in New York State serving similar student populations, scaling its unique model across multiple campuses. His early career includes teaching middle school science and leading schools in both district and charter settings. A committed educator and mission-driven leader, Mike has been honored nationally and regionally for his work and is a Pahara Fellow.

Rooted in his Catholic faith, Mike sees leadership as service and coaching as accompaniment. In addition to his work at Seton, Mike offers executive coaching to leaders across industries—from nonprofit executives and board members of top-performing companies to aspiring managers discerning their vocational path. He holds degrees and certifications from the University of South Florida, the University of Saint Joseph, Harvard University, and Brown University, and has contributed to professional learning as a guest lecturer, adjunct professor, and host of MIT’s Science and Engineering Program for Teachers. Mike’s dedication to forming both hearts and minds extends beyond schools and into his work as a small business owner and community leader.
