Maria Murphy is the Legal Director for the Brilla Schools Network, where she works to ensure that the network’s service to students, families, and the Bronx community is grounded in fairness, integrity, and compliance with the law. Previously, Maria served as an attorney for Washington, D.C.’s charter school authorizer and as a federal law clerk. She began her career as a middle school teacher in South Texas and is committed to expanding access to high-quality education for families on the margins. Maria earned her J.D., M.Ed., and B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
